Getting around Saint Vincent & the Grenadines

Shared minibuses are how Saint Vincent moves, radiating from the terminal at the New Kingstown Fish Market. Cabinet sets the fares route by route, and the rates approved in September 2022 run from EC$2.00 for anything under a mile to EC$8.00 or EC$9.00 for the far north. Taxi fares are also government-set but unmetered, so agree the price first. Ferries run from Kingstown out to Bequia, Mustique, Canouan, Mayreau and Union Island. Driving is on the left, and visitors need a temporary licence costing EC$50.

How it works

Minibus fares

Cabinet approves the fares. Under the rates in force since September 2022, any distance of a mile or less costs EC$2.00, and long runs such as Chateaubelair, Owia or Fancy cost EC$8.00 to EC$9.00.

The Kingstown terminal

Buses leave from the terminal at the New Kingstown Fish Market and run frequently to the hotel areas at Indian Bay and Villa.

Ferries to the Grenadines

Bequia Express, Bequia Fast Ferry, the Mustique ferry and the Jaden Sun sail from Kingstown to Bequia, Mustique, Canouan, Mayreau and Union Island.

Taxis and driving

Taxi rates are set by government but the cars are not metered, so confirm the fare before setting off; nights cost more. Driving is on the left, and a temporary visitor's licence costs EC$50 from the police station on Bay Street or the Licensing Authority on Halifax Street.
