Las Cabezas de San Juan Nature Reserve

A protected headland at Puerto Rico's northeastern tip where mangroves, dry forest, rocky shore and a bioluminescent lagoon meet in one compact reserve managed by the conservation trust Para la Naturaleza. Guided tram tours follow boardwalks through the mangroves and end at the restored 19th-century Fajardo lighthouse, whose rooftop looks across to Culebra and the Virgin Islands on a clear day. Some trails are also open for self-guided walks on set days.
