Barrachina

Food & Drink · San Juan, Puerto Rico

A courtyard restaurant on Calle Fortaleza in Old San Juan, serving Puerto Rican and Spanish dishes since the early 1960s. It proudly claims the invention of the piña colada, mixed here in 1963 by Ramón Portas Mingot, and a plaque out front marks the story. The plant-filled open-air patio makes a relaxed stop for mofongo, paella or the famous frozen drink while exploring the old city.
