Getting around Montserrat

The passenger ferry to Montserrat is discontinued until further notice. On the island, buses are minivans that stop anywhere along the main road, with fares from EC$3, and taxis meet arrivals and can be booked through your accommodation. A visitor's driving licence costs XCD$50 and lasts up to three months; holders of an OECS licence do not need one. Traffic keeps to the left.

How it works

The ferry is suspended

The Montserrat ferry service is discontinued until further notice. When it ran, the seasonal boat left Heritage Quay in Antigua and took about ninety minutes.

Minivan buses

Buses are colourful minivans that stop anywhere along the main road, with fares starting from EC$3, a little under US$1.25.

Taxis

Taxis meet arrivals at the airport and the ferry terminal, and accommodation hosts will book one ahead.

Driving here

A visitor's licence costs XCD$50 online, applied for at least 72 hours before travel, or in person at Brades Police Station or the airport. Visitors holding an OECS licence are exempt. Driving is on the left.
