Getting around St Barthélemy

Saint-Barthélemy's tourism board lists car hire, scooters, taxis and boats as the ways to get about, and calls car hire the most popular of them, with agencies at the airport and in Gustavia. Scooters suit experienced riders: the roads are steep and winding. Taxi stands sit at the ferry terminal and at the airport. Ferries reach Gustavia mainly from Sint Maarten, a crossing of about forty-five minutes, with several companies sailing daily.
