Anguilla's historic harbour village, squeezed onto a narrow strip of land between the working port of Road Bay and the old Road Salt Pond that powered the island's salt trade for some three centuries until production wound down in the late twentieth century. Boat building and fishing traditions run deep here, and the pond now draws birdwatchers. The beachfront is dotted with long-running casual spots such as Johnno's Beach Stop, famous for its Sunday afternoon live jazz.
