Big Spring Heritage Site

Parks & Nature · Island Harbour, Anguilla

A collapsed limestone cave near the fishing village of Island Harbour whose rock ledges hold, by the Anguilla National Trust's count, more than one hundred Amerindian petroglyphs from the Late Ceramic Age (roughly AD 600-1500) — one of only two known petroglyph sites on the island, alongside Fountain Cavern. The rare freshwater spring inside drew ceremonial use for centuries. Today a walkway lets visitors view the carvings, and the Anguilla National Trust leads guided tours that must be booked at least 48 hours in advance.
