Main Ridge Forest Reserve
Parks & Nature · Tobago, Trinidad and Tobago
Legally protected since 1776, this rainforest along Tobago's mountain spine is often cited as the oldest legally protected forest reserve in the Western Hemisphere. Trails such as the popular Gilpin Trace drop from the Roxborough–Parlatuvier road into mossy forest alive with hummingbirds, motmots and the rare white-tailed sabrewing. Local guides offer walks for all fitness levels, and a roadside visitor area marks the main trailhead.
