Grande Riviere Beach
Beach · Trinidad, Trinidad and Tobago
This remote north-coast village beach is one of the world's most important nesting sites for giant leatherback turtles, which haul ashore in large numbers between March and August. Trained local guides from the village conservation groups lead respectful night-time nesting walks, and small nature lodges sit right on the sand. Outside turtle season it is a peaceful river-and-sea village at the end of the coast road.
