About Turks & Caicos
The Turks and Caicos Islands are a UK overseas territory on the south-eastern end of the Bahamas platform, using the US dollar. Grace Bay on Providenciales is routinely named among the best beaches anywhere, and the islands sit beside a wall that drops over two thousand metres into the Columbus Passage.
Known for Grace Bay, the wall dive, salt raking history, conch and US dollar.
Getting around
Getting about the Turks and Caicos means a hire car, a taxi, a scooter or a bicycle — those are what the Tourist Board lists for the islands. Taxis and community cabs carry no meter: a fare varies with the distance and is charged per passenger, so agree it before you set off. Between the islands, the inter-island ferry leaves Walkin Marina at Leeward on Providenciales for North Caicos five times a day. Traffic keeps to the left.
