Palmentuin
Things to do · Paramaribo, Suriname
A stately public garden of tall royal palms directly behind the Presidential Palace, first opened to townspeople in 1685. Capuchin monkeys and tropical birds move through the canopy, and the shaded lawns hold statues, a playground and occasional holiday fairs. Cited in Paramaribo's UNESCO World Heritage listing, it is the city's favourite green pause between sights.
