Galibi Nature Reserve
Beach · Marowijne, Suriname
Remote Atlantic beaches at the mouth of the Marowijne River, reached by boat from Albina past the Kali'na villages of Christiaankondre and Langamankondre. In the nesting season, roughly February to June, leatherback and green sea turtles come ashore at night to lay their eggs, and visits are made under strict local supervision. Most travellers combine the turtle beaches with a stay in the villages and time on the wide river.
