Brownsberg Nature Park

A forested plateau about 130 km south of Paramaribo with sweeping views over the Brokopondo reservoir. Trails lead to waterfalls such as Leo and Irene Val, and the park is rich in wildlife, from howler monkeys and agoutis to hundreds of bird species. Run by the STINASU conservation foundation, it is the most accessible taste of Suriname's interior rainforest, with simple lodging on the summit.
