Braamspunt

Beach · Commewijne, Suriname

A slender sand spit where the Suriname and Commewijne rivers meet the Atlantic, reached only by boat from the Leonsberg jetty near Paramaribo. Its quiet shell-and-sand beach is one of the country's important nesting grounds for leatherback and green turtles, and the crossing often brings sightings of river dolphins and shorebirds. Guided trips time their visits carefully so the nesting animals are not disturbed.
