La Savane des Esclaves

An open-air heritage village created by Martinican Gilbert Larose to trace 400 years of the island's history. The self-guided walk moves through a reconstructed Amerindian village, a 'Rue Case-Nègres' of traditional slave-era huts, and a post-abolition Creole village, all set among medicinal-plant and cassava gardens. It is one of the island's most affecting cultural visits and takes about ninety minutes.
