A small, celebrated distillery tucked into the rainforest valley of Fonds-Préville near Macouba, in the island's far north, with roots reaching back to the 19th century. Rhum J.M is made from estate-grown cane pressed with volcanic spring water, and the visit winds through an aroma garden, the production floor and the ageing cellars before a tasting. The drive there along the northern coast is an attraction in itself.
