Anse Couleuvre

A wild silver-black volcanic sand beach at the very end of the northern coast road, hemmed in by rainforest cliffs below Mount Pelée. There are no facilities, which is exactly the appeal: dramatic dark sand, jungle backdrop, and often just a handful of visitors. It is also the trailhead for the Couleuvre waterfall walk and the long coastal hike toward Grand'Rivière.
