The cloud-wrapped volcanic cone that gives Nevis its shape, rising 985 metres from the centre of the island where all five parishes meet. The trail to the top is steep and muddy, using ropes in places, so hikers go with a local guide; the reward on a clear day is a sweep of ocean and neighbouring islands. Even from below it is the island's defining landmark.
