The dormant volcano that dominates northwestern St Kitts, rising 1,156 metres with a kilometre-wide summit crater that again holds a small lake. A guided hike climbs through farmland and rainforest to the crater rim, where clear days reveal views over the island chain. It is the highest point in the country and the centrepiece of the island's forested interior.
