Fort Charles, Port Royal
Things to do · Kingston (Port Royal), Jamaica
The oldest surviving fort of Port Royal, begun in the 1650s when the town was the notorious buccaneer capital of the Caribbean. Visitors walk the ramparts among old cannon, see the quarterdeck associated with a young Horatio Nelson, and step into the tilted Giddy House left leaning by the 1907 earthquake. It anchors the historic naval town at the tip of the Palisadoes spit outside Kingston.
