Parc National Macaya
Parks & Nature · Hispaniola, Haiti
Haiti's most biodiverse protected area covers the cloud forests of the Massif de la Hotte around Pic Macaya, the country's second-highest peak. The park shelters hundreds of bird species, rare orchids and frogs found nowhere else on Earth, in one of Haiti's last intact stands of high-elevation forest. Experienced hikers explore it with local guides on multi-day treks arranged from the Les Cayes side.
