Gelée Beach

A long, flat ribbon of pale sand just outside Les Cayes on Haiti's south coast, Gelée is one of the country's best-loved public beaches. Colourful stalls along the treeline serve fried fish, lambi and fritay, and the shallow, warm water makes for easy swimming. In August the beach becomes the stage for the town's lively patron-saint festivities.
