Shanta's The Puri Shop

Trading since the 1950s at the corner of Camp and New Market Streets, Shanta's is Georgetown's most storied puri shop, beloved for dhal puri wrapped around curried chicken, goat or pumpkin. The setting is simple counter service, and that is exactly the point: generations of Guyanese have eaten the same unfussy Indo-Guyanese classics here. Come hungry and expect a queue at lunchtime.
