Réserve Cousteau (Îlets Pigeon)
Parks & Nature · Basse-Terre island, Guadeloupe
The protected marine area around the twin Pigeon islets off Bouillante, made famous by Jacques Cousteau, who filmed here and helped spur its protection. Its coral gardens and dense tropical fish life are the most popular underwater site in Guadeloupe, visited by divers, snorkellers and glass-bottom boats departing from Malendure beach. The waters now sit within the marine heart of the national park.
