River Antoine Rum Distillery

Producing rum since 1785, River Antoine is Grenada's oldest distillery and still crushes fresh sugar cane with the Caribbean's oldest working waterwheel. Guided visits walk through the largely unchanged historic works, from cane crushing to open-air fermentation and pot stills, ending with a tasting of the famously strong local rum. It is a rare chance to see pre-industrial rum-making still in daily use.
