Grenada beaches for swimming and a day by the sea
Four beaches in Grenada and Carriacou offer calm swimming, sheltered coves and time by the water.
These four beaches suit a day by the sea, from sheltered swimming on Grenada’s south coast to a calm pool-like area on its northeast shore. The guide also includes Carriacou, where the beach looks toward Sandy Island. At Bathway, stay inside the rock shelf because currents beyond it are strong.
Bathway Beach
Beach, St. Patrick
A long stretch of coral sand on Grenada’s northeast coast, Bathway has a calm, pool-like swimming area inside its natural rock shelf. Picnic tables, small shops and bars are nearby; currents beyond the shelf are strong.
Grand Anse Beach
Beach, St. George
This two-mile beach has gentle, gradually shelving water for swimming, with hotels, beach bars and watersport operators along the shore. A craft-and-spice market sits near its northern end.
Morne Rouge Beach (BBC Beach)
Beach, St. George
This sheltered crescent has calm, shallow water and lazy waves, making it a relaxed swimming spot for children. Casual bars and restaurants are close by, and it is quieter than nearby Grand Anse.
Paradise Beach
Beach, Carriacou
On Carriacou, this curve of pale sand has clear, calm water and views toward Sandy Island. Boats run from the beach to the small cay for snorkelling.
