On a green peninsula guarding Prince Rupert Bay, this restored 18th-century British garrison once housed over 600 soldiers across more than fifty buildings. Visitors walk cannon-lined ramparts with sweeping views over Portsmouth, explore restored barracks, and learn about the 1802 revolt of the 8th West India Regiment that helped win freedom for enslaved soldiers. Trails continue into Cabrits National Park's forested twin peaks and around its coastal wetlands.
