Dominica Botanic Gardens
Things to do · Saint George, Dominica
Established in 1890 with help from Kew botanists, these 40 acres at the foot of Morne Bruce are Roseau's green heart, planted with grand tropical trees and dozens of indigenous species. The aviary beside the Parrot Research Centre offers a rare chance to see the Sisserou parrot, Dominica's national bird, up close. A famous relic — a school bus crushed by a baobab in Hurricane David in 1979 — still lies where it fell.
