Fort Amsterdam
Things to do · Curaçao, Curacao
The oldest and most important of Curaçao's forts, built by the Dutch West India Company from 1635 at the mouth of St. Anna Bay. Its ochre buildings now house the governor's residence and government offices, while the Fort Church inside holds a small museum — complete with a British cannonball from 1804 still lodged in the wall. It sits within the UNESCO-listed historic centre, steps from the Queen Emma Bridge.
