The Belize Zoo
Things to do · Belize District, Belize
Calling itself 'the best little zoo in the world', this beloved institution beside the George Price Highway keeps only native Belizean wildlife, almost all rescued, orphaned or rehabilitated animals. Shaded gravel paths wind through natural savanna enclosures holding jaguars, tapirs, harpy eagles, toucans and crocodiles. It doubles as the country's leading conservation-education centre and is an easy stop between Belize City and San Ignacio.
