Queen's Staircase
Things to do · New Providence (Nassau), Bahamas
A flight of 65 steps — 66 as originally cut — carved by hand out of solid limestone in the 1790s by enslaved workers, later named in honour of Queen Victoria. The cool, fern-draped canyon it climbs is one of Nassau's most visited landmarks, linking the downtown streets to the Fort Fincastle ridge above. Local guides at the site share the history with visitors.
