Opened in 1949 by Marius Stakelborough, this cheerful garden bar and burger spot in the heart of Gustavia is the island's oldest and most storied gathering place. Its simple cheeseburgers are popularly credited with inspiring Jimmy Buffett's song Cheeseburger in Paradise after his visits in the 1970s. Locals, sailors and visitors still mingle at its casual outdoor tables, making it as much a piece of island heritage as a place to eat.
