A San Nicolas institution since 1941, when it opened to serve refinery workers and sailors, now run by the third generation of the founding Brouns family. Every inch of the ceiling and walls is hung with decades of memorabilia left by visitors, from licence plates to life rings. The kitchen is best known for its garlic shrimp and scampi, and the lunchtime crowd mixes locals, artists and cruise-ship day-trippers.
