A restored military lookout and gun battery perched high above English Harbour, Shirley Heights offers the most photographed panorama in Antigua, sweeping over Nelson's Dockyard to the open sea. By day it is a peaceful historic site with walking trails and a small restaurant; on Sunday evenings it hosts the island's famous barbecue party with steel pan and live bands as the sun sets. On the clearest days you can spot Guadeloupe and even Montserrat's volcano on the horizon.
