Betty's Hope
Things to do · Antigua, Antigua and Barbuda
Antigua's first large sugar plantation, established in the 1650s, survives today as an open-air museum in the countryside near Pares. One of its twin stone windmills has been fully restored with sails and crushing machinery, while a small visitor centre in the old cotton storehouse explains plantation life and the history of the people enslaved here. It is a quiet, thought-provoking stop that pairs well with nearby Devil's Bridge on an east-coast day out.
